FROM THE BERLINER WEIN TROPHY AND MUNDUS VINI 2020 VALUABLE RECOGNITIONS FOR CANTINE RIONDO
A generous prize that rewards the commitment of the Collis Veneto subsidiary, a Veneto cooperative group that represents 10% of the entire region’s production, in the enhancement of a wine-growing heritage that includes 2000 members in a single production entity.
A gold medal at the Berliner Wein Trophy was awarded to the Prosecco Spumante di Riondo, the line that features different expressions of Charmat method sparkling wines and a modern interpretation of the best Veneto production from native vines, such as Amarone della Valpolicella, which won a second gold medal.
The same prestigious achievement was also reached by the 2018 Merlot of Castelforte, Cantine Riondo’s premium line, a selection of the best grapes harvested in low-yielding vines that produce elegant wines with a strong identity. Such as this Merlot, a structured, intense wine with strong tannins that give finesse and great expressiveness to the grape variety. Along with the Merlot, Castelforte’s Amarone 2016 was also awarded a gold medal, in recognition of the fullness of its body and complexity that has made this wine famous throughout the world.
Mundus Vini, the important wine competition held twice a year in Germany, also awarded the Silver medal to Amarone Castelforte 2016 and Riondo’s Ripasso 2017, a dry, full-bodied wine that satisfies the palate without matching the complexity of the Amarone on whose skins it matures.
“These awards are tangible evidence that the path we have been following towards quality production for some years now is being rewarded,” comments General Manager Gianfranco Gambesi, “and they confirm that even a large cooperative group like the one we belong to can become the interpreter and promoter of a quality wine culture, representing the perfect synthesis of a history rooted in the past but focused on the future. Because there are still a lot of milestones to reach and we have all the potential to win new challenges”.
